Shocked staff at the historic Lifford Courthouse arrived for work to find the building had been attacked by vandals.

The vandals threw bricks through the windows of the building and also damaged expensive original wooden window frames.

A Garda investigation has been launched into the incident which took place on Sunday night into Monday morning.

A spokesperson for Lifford Courthouse posted their annoyance on the company’s website.

They said “We arrived in this morning to find this waiting for us.

“Yet more windows damaged, without a question deliberately due to the amount of them that were smashed.

“A lot of damage was also done to the original wooden frames which have been around for longer than anybody reading this. Needless to say, they are a lot more expensive to replace than most windows.”
