New traffic works cause chaos with 2km tailbacks this morning

A stop and go system to allow roadworks on the N56 outside Letterkenny this morning is causing traffic chaos.

The system, less than 1km from the ongoing works at Blue Banks, has caused tailbacks of more than 2kms.

Many parents rushing to leave children to school have been left outraged over the delays.

It is understood that schools in the area had asked for a delay for the works until the mid-term Halloween break and weren’t told they were starting today.

One outraged parent who contacted Donegal Daily this morning said “When are they going to get these things right? My none year old would have told them they were going to cause traffic chaos this morning. It’s a joke but nobody is laughing.”
