Listen: Glenfin can learn and improve from Ulster final loss – Francie Martin

France Martin says Glenfin will be all the better for their run to the Ulster senior club final.

Donaghmoyne proved too strong for Glenfin in this afternoon’s final at Killyclogher, with Cathriona McConnell hitting eight points in a 1-15 to 1-8 win.

Gallant Glenfin fought to the finish, but Donaghmoyne’s experience saw them clinch an 11th title.

“The girls put up a great battle,” Martin said.

“We’ve had a great year and we’ll settle for that. We’ll learn from this and we’ll be stronger.

“We said we’d go at them, but they hit a purple patch. Once they came back, the game was going away from us.”

Glenfin were within a point after Karen Guthrie hit the opening two points of the second half, but Donaghmoyne didn’t blink and responded with the next seven scores.

Martin said: “It just didn’t work for us on the day.

“Their all-round team are all great, experienced players and they showed that. They’re a very strong team and we had no answers to them.”
