Lagan had to really battle to get the three points against a stubborn and resolute Kilmacrennan side in the Donegal Youth League on Saturday.

Both sides had opportunities to score in the each half with the best opportunities coming from set pieces.

Kilmacrennan went close on 75 minutes when Conor Mc Fadden hit the post on a breakaway.

Oisin Bonner in the Lagan goal saved well on another Kilmac attack.

The first goal would prove crucial and Lagan got it in the 86th minute when Seamus Cullen slipped the ball to Matthew McDaid who danced around a couple of Kilmacrennan defenders and from the tightest of angles poked the ball into the net.

Lagan extended the lead in injury time when a short Matthew McDaid corner found Ciaran Quinn who passed a defender before shooting low into the net.

Best for Lagan were Matthew McDaid and Ciaran Quinn while Emmett Maguire and Evan Coleman were best for Kilmacrennan.
