Teresa McGloin agonisingly close to Europe as Finn Valley compete in national cross-country

The stand out Finn Valley AC performance over last weekend was that of Teresa McGloin in the senior national cross country championships in Dublin.

Teresa finished 7th – just missing out on European selection, where the top 6 go to Tillburg.

It was an improved performance from the championships of 2017 but frustratingly just short.

There was an upside as Donegal with Ann Marie McGlynn, Nakita Burke and Caitriona Jennings winning the inter county title – only the 5th occasion in history Donegal have achieved that position.

Elsewhere the Finn Valley 18 girls continue to improve with silver medals on the day with Cassie Lagan, Daniella Jansen, Aoife McGrath, Karen Gallagher and Tori Glackin on duty.

Now to battle for further medal with the squad u19 in a few weeks in Navan. It’s particularly encouraging to medal with a group at this age level .

Donegal county teams were in medal mode in a number of age categories and Valley athletes making a contribution there were Sarah Bradley, Emer O’Brien, Shaun Gallagher and Oisin Toye.

Onwards now to Navan and very quickly then the move to indoor athletics which kicks off late December with the North West Indoor Games late December in Athlone and early January the National Indoor League which Finn Valley have committed to.

Best Wishes to Sommer Lecky and Brendan Boyce both shortlisted for awards at Athletics Ireland dinner on Thursday ,

Pre entries are now open for the Stephens Day 5k, Glenmore10 on Feb 10th.

Also a reminder re the Rundonegal Womens 5k on March 30th – charity to be announced in coming weeks .

The recent Remembrance 10k was a tremendous success and the nominated charity North West Blood Bikes received their contribution this week.
