People in coastal parts of Donegal are being warned to batten down the hatches as high winds approach tonight.
Met Eireann has upgraded the wind alert for Donegal for a time this Friday morning.
Severe wind gusts of 110 to 130km/h are due to hit the northwest overnight and early tomorrow.
“There is also a risk of coastal damage on exposed northwest coasts due to a combination of winds, high spring tides and high storm surge,” warn forecasters.
Donegal will be under a Status Yellow wind warning from 10pm Thursday to 12noon on Friday.
The warning escalates to Status Orange between 1am and 8am in the early hours of Friday.
