There are five nominees in the mix for this week’s Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub Sports Person of the Week, in association with O’Reilly’s.

Each weekly award winner will receive a kitbag, a jersey and a half-zip, supplied by O’Reilly’s.

The award winner will be chosen via a public vote from a shortlist selected by our panel.

O’Reilly’s Sportswear was founded in 2017 by well-known Twin Towns sporting brothers Steven and Martin O’Reilly.

Our poll closes at noon on Thursday.

Clare Friel (Mulroy College)

Mulroy College overcame Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair last week to retain their Ulster senior school’s title. A narrow 1-0 win away from home gave Mulroy the precious win to put them at the All-Ireland semi-final stage again. Goalkeeper Clare Friel kept a clean sheet in trying conditions and had her side supremely organised as she proudly captained her school to glory.

Garbhan Fullerton (Buncrana Golf Club)

The US National Hole-In-One Registry quotes odds of 67 MILLION to one to get two holes-in-one in the same round of 18 holes of golf. Buncrana Golf Club’s Garbhan Fullerton managed just that at the weekend. Getting just one hole-in-one is an achievement for most golfers – but Garbhan did it twice in the same round!

Sarah Kelly (Inishowen AC)

At the National Uneven Age Cross-Country Championships at the weekend, Inishowen AC’s Sarah Kelly won a bronze medal in the U19 race. Kelly, with a lifetime best run, finished behind Jodie McCann and Orla O’Connor.

Bernard McGettigan (Gaeil Fhanada)

Gaeil Fhanada minors completed a memorable season on Sunday as they added the Minor League Division 2 title to the Championship crown they already collected. Bernard McGettigan led the way for the Fanad men as they beat Glenfin 0-13 to 1-7. McGettigan hit six points and gave an inspired display for his side.

Kevin McHugh (Donegal League)

Kevin McHugh rolled back the years on Saturday night at The Showgrounds as the Donegal League earned a 2-2 draw with Sligo-Leitrim – a result that ensured qualification for the quarter-finals of the Oscar Traynor Trophy. Now on the books of Kildrum Tigers, Finn Harps legend McHugh scored both the Donegal League’s goals.
