Catherine Grier scores as Doncaster reach Champions League quarter-finals

Catherine Grier was on the mark today as Doncaster booked a place in the quarter-finals of the European Deaf Champions League.

Grier netted one of the goals in a 5-2 win ovcer CDC Altatorre from Spain this morning and Doncaster sealed a last eight spot thanks to a 9-1 win over Dresdner GSV of Germany.

The Champions League is being held in Stuttgart – a famous city for Irish football.

It was there that Ray Houghton netted as the Republic of Ireland beat England at Euro ’88.

Ramelton woman Grier – who played for the Donegal Women’s League’s U17s in 2018 – bagged a goal with Emma Brown netting three and Nathalie O’Brien another one in the opening win.

In match number two, Brown scored a hat-trick while Carmel Heery, Jodie Newman and Fer Evans had a brace each.

Doncaster still have a game left as they take on MKSN Mazowsze Warszawa at 10am tomorrow, with both sides already through.

The quarter-final draw will be made tomorrow evening.
