Doncaster Rovers, whose team included Ramelton woman Catherine Grier, lost out in today’s European Deaf Futsal Champions League final.

Three second-half goals from GTSV Essen gave them a 3-1 win, but Doncaster leave Stuttgart as runners-up and with their heads held high.

Essen came from behind to win after Rebekah Grant, a native of Cork, put Doncaster in front.

Grier had been in good form for Doncaster in their run to the final.

In the 5-1 quarter-final win over PS Sordapiciena from Italy, Grier scored twice and was also among the goals in a 5-2 group win over CDC Altatorre of Spain.
