St Eunan’s bowed out of the Bank of Ireland Paddy McLarnon Cup Ulster U21 Club Football Tournament after a narrow preliminary round loss to Clann Éireann yesterday at Creggan.

Clann Éireann, Lurga 0-8 St Eunan’s 0-7

A late point from Conan O’Carroll sealed Clann Éireann’s place in the next round.

St Eunan’s were without Niall O’Donnell, who was sitting a college exam.

St Eunan’s were behind, 0-5 to 0-3, at half-time, with Oisin Purdy having a goal chance cleared off the line by Barry McCambridge, while St Eunan’s goalkeeper Eoin O’Boyle saved superbly from Conor Turbitt.

Niall Hannigan (2) and Cormac Finn landed the Eunan’s points in the first half.

St Eunan’s went close with another goal chance as Aaron Deeney hit the post.

O’Boyle, again, came to the rescue at the other end with a wonder save from Tiernan Kelly.

St Eunan’s stayed in touch with Eoin McGeehan and Michael McGroary on the mark.

As they launched a desperate bid late on, McGeehan was denied by the post and, by the skins of their teeth, St Eunan’s bow out.

St Eunan’s: Eoin O’Boyle; Conor Moore, Darragh Toal, Michael McGroary; Anthony Gallagher, Oisin Toal, Peter McEniff (0-1); Sean McGettigan, Aaron Deeney; Cormac Finn (0-1), Kevin Kealy, Niall Hannigan (0-3, 2); Oisin Purdy, Rory Carr, Eoin McGeehan (0-1). Sub: Brian McIntyre (0-1) for Carr.
