Former Finn Harps, Derry City and St Patrick’s Athletic goalkeeper James Gallagher has joined Kilmacrennan Celtic ahead of their crunch game against Castlefin Celtic on Sunday.

The Letterkenny man had an apprenticeship at Celtic before signing for St Patricks Athletic on his return from Scotland.

The shot-stopper found it hard to establish himself in the Pats line up but did win a League Cup Winners Medal with the Saints in 2003.

The recruitment of Gallagher, who also previously coached at Finn Harps, will come as a huge boost to Kilmacrennan,  with over a decade of Irish Premier and First Division experience under his belt.

Two points separate Kilmacrennan and Castlefinn at the foot of the Donegal League Premier Division table.

A victory for Castlefinn would see them extend their lead to five points, while Kilmacrennan would take over as leaders with a win. for Castlefinn would see them extend their lead to five points.
