SJP just gave a Donegal company the best shout-out

US actress Sarah Jessica Parker has given the ultimate endorsement to Donegal design company Studio Donegal.

The Sex and the City star, who has a holiday home in Kilcar, shared a photo on Instagram today looking back on her family’s recent Christmas break in Ireland.

The photo focused on a colourful spread of blankets by Studio Donegal, a handwoven Donegal Tweed mill based close to Sarah’s cottage.

Sarah heaped praise on the makers and made sure her 5 million Instagram followers knew where the throws came from by tagging Studio Donegal and replying to a number of fans’ comments.

Christmas holiday, Ireland, quiet time to read, that wee corner ( our "Happy Place") no alarm clocks and no schedules to keep seem a distant memory. X, SJ

Sarah told one person that the store was “a place like no other” and advised another follower to “visit @studiodonegal all hand woven old school style. Glorious artists and locals!”

As a hugely influential fashion icon, Sarah’s celebration of Studio Donegal is great promotion for the traditional craft company.

Studio Donegal at The Glebe Mill Kilcar is one of the last mills in Ireland to hand-weave all their own cloth. The skilled craftworkers create beautiful contemporary throws, cushions and accessories, which are on display this weekend at Showcase Ireland in the RDS.

Sarah also shared her love of Donegal itself when a follower asked her for recommendations on where to visit in Ireland.

“Visit and spend time in beautiful County Donegal!!!!,” she told them.

Sarah has often praised the beauty and peacefulness of life in Donegal, which is worlds away from her home, business and acting career in New York City.

SJP, her husband Matthew Broderick and their children took a break from the city to celebrate Christmas 2018 and ring in the New Year in their south Donegal cottage, which underwent an extensive renovation last year. The family hold Donegal close to their hearts, while Sarah recently complimented the county as a “remote but beautiful land far away”.

Happy new year from a remote but beautiful land far away where wifi often eludes us but 2019 will not. Best to one and all in this coming year for good health, adventure, time with loved ones, patience, humor, perseverance, joy, good love and good loving. X, SJ
