Donegal jockey Martin Harley has secured a potentially-lucrative move to ride in Hong Kong from next month.

The Trentagh man has been granted a temporary three-month licence by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“I’ve never been to Hong Kong and I’m looking forward to it,” Harley told the Racing Post.

“I’m excited by the new challenge and hopefully it will be good for my career.”

Prize money on offer in Hong Kong is significantly higher than in England, with as much as six-to-seven times difference.

“The prize-money is massive there and hopefully it will pay off,” he said.

Harley had 87 winners in 2018 and has seven victories to his name this year already.

Tomorrow, he is in action in Dubai, as he is in the saddle of Intisaab.

Harley had two wins on the David O’Meara-trained eight-year-old in early 2018.
