Listen: John ‘Bosco’ Gallagher hails McMenamin impact for Coláiste Ailigh

John ‘Bosco’ Gallagher believes Coláiste Ailigh will improve after yesterday’s Danske Bank O’Doherty Cup quarter-final win over Lumen Christi.

Oisin McGarvey’s two second half goals secured a come-from-behind 2-10 to 1-6 win at O’Donnell Park.

“We found it hard to get balls into the full-forward line in the first half and we rushed some of them,” he said.

“We were on the back foot then, especially with the talent that they have. I thought if we could come out and get a point or two…then Oisin got the goal, that was a bonus.

“We were rusty in the first half, but that game will help them.”

The introduction of Conor McMenamin, the Irish U19 rugby ace, at half-time certainly aided Coláiste Ailigh’s fight back.

“Conor had a huge bearing, especially for kick outs and the throw-ups,” Gallagher said.

“He doesn’t play a lot of Gaelic, but he has the skills and he’s good on the ball. He made a big difference. We moved Oisin inside and we got a few quality scores off them.”
