Over 600 guests packed into the Mount Errigal Hotel last night for the 2018 Donegal Sports Star of the Year Awards.

Finn Valley AC high jumper Sommer Lecky won the top gong, named as the Donegal Sports Star of the Year, but it was a night of celebration all across the sporting world with 45 awards presented in all.

The special guest, Irish horse racing icon Ruby Walsh, was a big hit with the punters last night.

Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given was announced as an ambassador for the Donegal Sports Star Awards.

The Chairperson of the Donegal Sports Star Awards, Grace Boyle said: “2018 was a fantastic year of sport in Donegal. We have over 40 categories tonight. It is a great achievement to be nominated.

“It is a night to celebrate participation and volunteerism.”
