Harry Ascroft says he’s looking forward to getting ‘stuck in’ at Finn Harps.

New signing Ascroft – pictured by Joe Boland, North West News Pix – was recruited from Balzan, in the Maltese Premier League – from whom Harps brought in Jacob Borg last season.

Borg and Ascroft played together, while Ascroft has also played with VVV-Venlo in Netherlands and Central Coast Mariners in Australia.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Ascroft told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“It’s going to be a tough one.”

Harps manager Ollie Horgan watched Ascroft in action with Balzan and the player was impressed by Borg’s feedback.

Ascroft said: “They looked after Jacob very well and he felt very appreciated. The clubs I’ve played for before were family orientated and there is always a good feeling around it. Coming to play in Europe in a top division, too, was a big thing.”
