John Kavanagh back to boost Finn Harps’ survival bid

John Kavanagh has returned to aid Finn Harps’ bid for Premier Division survival.

Kavanagh spent the second half of the 2018 season on loan to Harps from Cork City and was instrumental in their successful promotion quest.

Kavanagh signed a new deal at Cork in December and it looked like he wouldn’t be making a return to Ballybofey.

Cork boss John Caulfield had described Kavanagh as ‘like a new signing’.

Kavanagh has had an injury-hit time on Leeside and also had loan spells at Cobh Ramblers and Waterford United.

Harps fans were boosted with the sight of Kavanagh on the team for Saturday’s 2-2 friendly draw with Athlone Town ahead of the start of their Premier Division campaign on Friday night against Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

It is understood that Harps have again come to a loan arrangement with Cork for the player, while there could be another signing unveiled by manager Ollie Horgan ahead of the big kick-off.
