Man arrested after woman left in hospital following house attack

A woman has been hospitalised after she was attacked by a man at her home in Gortahork, West Donegal.

Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 50s was arrested after the assault occurred at a house at Fanaboy around 2pm yesterday.

The woman was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries which are not understood to be life-threatening.

The man was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The suspect, who is also in his 50s, is currently being detained for questioning at Milford Garda station.

Investigations into the cause of the assault are ongoing.
