Declan Bonner praised Donegal’s character after their gritty win over Armagh in Ballybofey.

Michael Murphy hit 1-2 as Donegal defeated the Orchard 1-9 to 0-11 on a horrendous night by the Finn.

“It was about real grit, real desire and a will to win,” Bonner told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“That was really good to see.

“I thought we showed a lot of character.

“It was important to get two points, no matter how we dug them. This evening in the meeting, I said to them that whatever way we get over the line, as long as we won the match.

“I thought we showed a lot of character. The leadership qualities of Leo (McLoone) and Michael were invaluable.”
