Many parts of Donegal are under water this morning following severe overnight rain.

Motorists are being advised to slow down with a number of minor accidents already reported.

The Harry Blaney bridge over Mulroy Bay is flooded on the Fanad side and people are advised to approach it with care.

The Main Street in Newtowncunningham is also flooded and Donegal County Council are on route to unblock drains there.

Other areas suffering from severe surface water include Ballybofey, Manorcunningham and on the Cstlefin to Lifford Road.

Gardai are advising people to slow down when driving through water and not to take any chances.
