Declan Bonner says that All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Paul Durcan could be in his Championship plans.
Durcan has not played for Donegal since the 2015 All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Mayo, but the 35-year-old has returned to training in the last month.
Durcan has returned to Ireland having been based in Qatar since 2015.
The Donegal Town man played in a charity match in Downings at Christmas and his return to county training sparked the rumour mill into action.
“We’ve been monitoring it over the last couple of weeks,” Bonner said.
“Paul is back in training again and is based in Sligo now.
“The panel has been open-ended so far this year and it will be for another couple of weeks.”
Bonner has rotated Shaun Patton and Mark Anthony McGinley in the League games.
Durcan has already played 51 Championship games for Donegal and adding to that tally doesn’t seem as far-fetched as it might have in the recent past.
