Shane Byrne admits he would swap any other silverware to lead Glengad United to the FAI Junior Cup.
Glengad are battling on all fronts domestically in Inishowen and also have a Knockalla Caravans Senior Cup quarter-final against Letterkenny Rovers next week.
Glengad have secured a berth in the FAI Senior Cup but in three weeks’ time they take on St Michael’s in a semi-final of the Junior Cup.
“Without a shadow of a doubt, it’s the biggest competition,” Byrne told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“To be one of the four best junior teams in the country at this present minute is lovely.
“It’ll the biggest game in the club’s history.
“We have won nothing this year so far. Every game we play now is a big, big game.”
Two years ago, Glengad lost to Pike Rovers in a quarter-final and Byrne said: “We learned a lot out of that Pike Rovers game and we went this time and deservedly won a quarter-final.”
Yesterday, Glengad – the defending champions – kept the pressure on League leaders Greencastle with a comprehensive 6-0 win over Illies Celtic at The Crua.
Byrne said: “We just have to keep the pressure on, win every game and see where it takes us. We have to be there to take advantage of any slip up. We’ll just try to keep on their tails.”
