Mulroy Hoops U14s girls team have made history after becoming the club’s first All-Ireland champions.
The team beat all the odds to win Basketball Ireland’s C title at Gormanstown in Co Meath today.
The girls were really up against it in the final and at half-time it looked as if their opponents Athlone were going to take the win with a 20-14 lead.
However, some tenacious work from Mulroy saw them level things at 23-23 at the end of the third quarter.
And when the final buzzer sounded Mulroy emerged victorious on a scoreline of 30-25.
There promises to be great celebrations in the Rossnakill Hall this evening when the girls and their coaches return.
