Brendan Boyce set a new Donegal record for the 20k race walk yesterday.

Boyce finished 12th in the European Race Walk meeting in Podebrady in a time of one hour, 24 minutes and 31 seconds.

The Finn Valley AC man’s new BB and the Donegal record offers much encouragement for the remainder of 2019 and heading towards the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The Milford native’s last PB over 20k was set in 2013.

The 32-year old said on social media: “In a world of hurt in last 3km just holding it together but have to celebrate the good days. 32 years of age and still more to come from me. Only getting started.”
