Buncrana Golf: Fierce competition at the Open Stableford in Letterkenny

The Clanree Hotel Letterkenny Open Stableford was held last weekend and there were some good scores returned on Sunday morning.

Competition Results

The in-form 11 handicapper Derek Murphy maintained his good run of form to shoot a very impressive 5 over gross of 71 to amass his winning total of 42 pts. In second place on a break of tie with 41 pts was Kevin Mc Dermott who played some of his best golf this year. The full results of the Clanree Hotel Letterkenny Open Stableford are as follows 1st Derek Murphy (11) 42 pts, 2nd Kevin Mc Dermott (17) 41 pts b.o.t., Gross Oliver Doherty (3) 67 gross, 3rd Patrick Doherty (23) 41 pts and Back 9 Shaun Devlin (12) 22 pts.

Competition

The competition this weekend Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th will be an Open Stableford which is sponsored by Floors R Us Fahan. This will also be the first counting competition of the year for Golfer of The Year points.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €500.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Callaghan Jeweller’s Golfer of The Year

The much sought after Golfer of The Year title which is sponsored by Callaghan’s Jewellers Buncrana will commence Saturday 4th May. The format this year will be two categories, gross golfer of the year and nett golfer of the year. There will be 15 competitions with a players 10 best scores to count with points being awarded for the top 10 finishers in each competition and a player can only win the one category.

Membership Deals

There are great membership deals available at present i.e. golf until March 1st 2020 – Men €350.00, Ladies €232, complete beginners male €260.00 and Lady €190.00 all rates inclusive of G.U.I. & Insurance fees. A reminder to all members paying by instalments all membership fees have to be paid in full on or before 1st May 2019 failure to comply will result in your membership being terminated.
