Dunfanaghy Golf Club Notes: Full round-up as the Scratch Cups take place

In near treacherous conditions, a number of intrepid golfers teed it up last Saturday in Dunfanaghy for the Senior and Intermediate Scratch Cups kindly sponsored by McGinley Motors.

Due to the weather, scoring was difficult and many golfers did not make it as far as the 18th. Thankfully, for many of the participants, the organisers reduced the competition from a 36 hole event to an 18-hole event.

13-year-old James T Sweeney shot an amazing score of 11 over par to win the intermediate scratch cup by a clear 4 shots. This was an extremely impressive display from one of the Club’s most promising young players.

In the senior event, Sean Duffy came out on top with another fabulous score of 6 over par.

Well done to all those who finished the event.

It was a true test of endurance.
