Greencastle match-winner Nigel McMonagle has described the Greeks’ season so far as ‘unbelievable’.

McMonagle hit the only goal of the game just before half-time as Greencastle overcame Glengad United in yesterday’s Ulster Junior Cup final at Maginn Park.

The win adds to their League Cup win from a couple of weeks ago and one more point will secure the Jackie Crossan Premier Division title.

“We’ll take nothing for granted,” McMonagle told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub after the game.

“It’s been brilliant. The boys have put in serious hard work.

“It’s been unbelievable, just to think that we’d never won anything before and now we’re a point away from winning a treble.”

It was a game of few chances, McMonagle’s goal was the key.

He said: “There wasn’t much in it Both sides had a few 50-50s that could have gone either way. In the end result, I think we shaded it.”
