Joe Boyle says that Finn Harps U19s’ defensive solidity is reaping rewards.

A 2-0 win over Shelbourne at Finn Park put Harps joint top in the table as Boyle’s men kept a fifth consecutive clean sheet.

“We were really solid,” Boyle told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We’re happy with that. It’s something that we’re putting a god bit of work on in training.

“Joe (Boyle, the Harps U19 goalkeeper) is keen in training that he isn’t giving up anything and that’s carrying into matches. We have to keep working on that. It’s just another three points.

“It’s been good and there are positives all around the place. They’re playing at a good level and are getting the rewards for it now.”

Michael Gallagher and Gabriel Aduaka hit the second-half goals as Harps claimed their latest win to keep up their unbeaten start to 2019.

Boyle said: “The first half was tight, but getting the first goal was key. It opened up a wee bit for us. We played well in the second half. We played well against a strong wind. We created a lot of chances.”
