Geraldine McLaughlin was red hot as Termon defeated old foes Glenfin in the senior ladies final at Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in Gaoth Dobhair.

McLaughlin scored 1-10 to inspire Termon to the silverware.

Goals in either half by Bridget Gallagher and McLaughlin made the win safe for Termon, who led by nine points at half-time.

Led by Donegal captain Karen Guthrie, Glenfin hit back for periods of the second half, but Termon proved too strong.

Termon had a big let-off after just two minutes when Karen Guthrie’s shot came down from the crossbar – following a fine finger-tipped save by ‘keeper Maureen O’Donnell – and bounced out rather than in.

Guthrie landed a pair of frees to cancel out two early attempts from McLaughlin.

McLaughlin hit four in a row to put Termon five up before Mya Alcorn converted to join McLaughlin on the scoresheet.

Guthrie, after taking a pass from Anna Marie McGlynn, ended a 15-minute wait for a Glenfin score

McLaughlin turned provider to tee up Bridget Gallagher for a goal late in the half. Gallagher drew two defenders before firing past Faith Harkin.

Guthrie stemmed the tide, but a double from McLaughlin had the Burn Road side 1-10 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

When McLaughlin found the net for a second Termon goal, it was game, set and match for Shaun O’Donnell’s team.

McLaughlin kept the scoreboard ticking with another point, while Guthrie (3) and Coleen McGrath reduced the deficit.
