Gardai suspect huge barn fire was started deliberately

Gardai now suspect that a huge fire in a barn in Inishowen yesterday may have been started deliberately.

A forensic examination into the blaze at the barn at Pound Street in Carndonagh suggest the cause of the fire is suspicious.

Nobody was injured in the blaze which started around 1pm and caused major damage.

However, the barn was destroyed and had to be brought under control by firefighters from Carndonagh.

Firemen also battled to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings as huge plumes of smoke was sent into the skyline.

Gardai have appealed for any information from anybody who may have been near the barn just before 1pm yesterday and may have noticed anybody acting suspiciously to contact them.
