Listen: ‘I’m not here to relax’ – Raffaele Cretaro celebrates 500 in style

FINN HARPS veteran Raffaele Cretaro made his 500th League appearance in League of Ireland football last night – and played a big role in the derby win over Derry City.

Cretaro, who played the bulk of his senior career at his native Sligo Rovers, moved to Harps at the start of the 2019 season.

An outline of Cretaro’s contribution is the fact that the midfielder has been wearing the captain’s armband in recent weeks.

Last night, Cretaro was honoured before the game with a presentation to mark his 500th appearance and celebrated as Harps won 1-0.

“It’s not in me to go somewhere just to relax,” Cretaro told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“I want to be the best player every day. I hope that enthusiasm and professionalism rubs off on younger players here.

“It’s nice to get the win and continue our great form since the break. We know we have enough in the dressing room to win games. The break came at the right time for us. Please God we can continue to do that now.”
