Listen: Gary O’Neill says St Michael’s still have a lot to do

IT IS A case of a lot done, but more to do after a positive weekend for St Michael’s manager Gary O’Neill.

Having been drawn into the relegation mix, St Michael’s gave themselves a massive boost with wins over Bundoran and Sean MacCumhaills over the last three days.

“At the start of this week, we said that we needed four points,” O’Neill told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“The games being at home was a good boost and we have players coming back to fitness so the personnel is getting better too. We set out the stall to get the four points. Our backs are to the wall so we had to produce something.”

It has been a frustrating couple of months for the Creeslough-Dunfanaghy side, who came up narrowly short in a few of their games.

O’Neill said: “We lost twice to Kilcar by a point and Gaoth Dobhair beat us by a point; that was three weeks in a row. You just have to keep plugging away. The performances were there, the work rate and team effort was there, but we were losing by a point here and there.”
