Residents to form committee following spate of anti-social incidents

Residents of Long Lane in Letterkenny will meet this Wednesday to form a committee for the Long Lane Residents Association.

The Association has come about after the ongoing issues such as anti-social behavior, claims of lack of inclusion and involvement from the council, the underdevelopment of green/play areas and derelict houses.

Community activist, Finn O Donnell said this is a great opportunity now for all the estates on the Long Lane to get together and form a committee and to give the people a greater voice on issues concerning everyone.

He said “There are approximately 800 houses on Long Lane and I think if we all work together we can have that greater voice to make the council listen up and improve the whole of Long Lane. This applies from individual cases such as house repairs to the whole of our community.”

One Resident also said “I think its a great idea because it does feel like the Council and other groups neglect the Long Lane. I think when the committee is up and running and all of the ground work is done, we will be seeing the differences down the line in our community.”

The meeting will take place at the Doorway Project, Meadowbank, Long Lane, 7pm, Wednesday,7th, August.
