Heavy rain, thunder, hail and floods are all expected in the north west later today.
An unsettled evening is in store for Donegal, with forecasters warning of hazardous driving conditions.
While no official weather warning has been issued by Met Eireann, the country is bracing for heavy prolonged showers and thunderstorms.
There is a risk of hail today, according to the national weather service, while localised downpours could potentially cause flash flooding. Winds will be strong for a time along the north coast.
Meanwhile, it will feel harm and humid with temperatures ranging from 18-22C.
Saturday is also set to be unsettled, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.
“Again, many of the showers will be heavy and possibly prolonged, with a risk of thunderstorms,” said Met Eireann.
“Further heavy showers or longer spells of rain will continue to occur on Saturday night.”
Sunday is shaping up to be the best day of the weekend. It will be a “much fresher and cooler day” with just isolated showers in the west.
