DIVISION ONE winners Kilcar eased to a comprehensive 16-point away win at Glensiwlly this afternoon.

Glenswilly 2-4 Kilcar 2-20

By Charlie Collins at Pairc Naomh Columba

Goals in either half by Matthew McClean and Eoin McHugh on top of seven Patrick McBrearty points saw Barry Doherty’s men comfortable victors.

Kilcar were already seven-points up when the Towney men hit the back of the net on 16 minutes. Glenswilly lost possession around the middle and McClean raced clear to blast home.

That came just a minute after Gerard McGrenra, the Glenswilly goalkeeper, denied Barry Shovelin with a fine save.

McBrearty hit three points in that early flurry for Kilcar.

Mark McHugh and McBrearty tacked on points before Shane McDevitt broke the Glenswilly duck.

After McGrenra saved brilliantly from Mark Sweeney, Glenswilly bagged two goals in the closing stages of the first period.

Oisin Crawford finished well after a good Glenswilly moved and Mark McAteer riffled home just two minutes later.

At the break, Kilcar led 1-15 to 2-1 with McBrearty and Ryan McHugh adding points for the visitors.

Brian Farrelly hit the post for Glenswilly early in the second half, while McGrenra made another brilliant stop to deny Eoin McHugh a second Kilcar goal.

Five minutes from the end, Eoin McHugh rattled the net after sweeping home following a move that began with Ryan McHugh.
