A tractor run and barbecue in aid of Cancer Care West is being held tomorrow, Saturday 24 August at Garshooey, Newtowncunningham.

The tractor run will be hosted by Donegal IFA and registration will be open from 11am on the day. Entry, including barbecue, for each tractor is €20.

It is part of a series of events for a major fund-raising initiative in aid of Cancer Care West which provides support services for cancer patients and their families throughout Donegal .

Over recent years, former IFA County Chairman Michael Chance forged close links with the charity and pledged he would organise an event within the farming community to contribute to the work of Cancer Care West.

The committee have been working tirelessly to organise this weekend’s event.
“This is a great opportunity for to raise awareness and funds to highlight the vital work Cancer Care West undertakes for Donegal cancer patients.

The Cancer Care West support centre in Letterkenny provides support services for cancer patients and their families throughout Donegal,” said Mr Chance.

The tractor run and Dyno Test Day will kick-start events and will be followed by a BBQ.

There will be an auction of donated livestock (sheep & cattle) in Ballybofey/Stranorlar mart on Friday 20th September and a final event of a buffet supper and auction of other donated goods and services will take place on Friday 18th October in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny.

All money raised and donated will go directly to Cancer Care West to provide vital services and support in Donegal.

Farmers across Donegal, Agri-businesses and the wider agricultural community are being asked to throw their weight behind the fund-raising efforts and lend as much support as possible by way of help or contributions from farmers.

IFA branch chairman, the county officers, or any of the organising committee listed below can be contacted for more information: Michael Chance (Chair)- 0868031858; Marion Boyce (Secretary)- 0872789528.
