FRANK MCGLYNN was relieved to see Glenfin secure their Division Two status with two games to spare.
A 1-12 apiece draw at home to Naomh Columba on Friday night ensured that both teams survived the dreaded drop.
“Happy leaving the pitch, but not too happy with the last ten or 15 minutes,” McGlynn told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
Glenfin led by seven points, but with Odhrán McGlynn sent off, Naomh Columba hit back. Christopher Byrne’s goal and a last-gasp score by Aaron Doherty secured a share of the spoils.
McGlynn said: “Glen kept coming and had a chance of a goal late on that could have ended up in the net. They got a few scores at the end to clinch a draw.”
Glenfin were Intermediate champions last year and are looking forward to group clashes with Glenswilly, Milford and Four Masters in this year’s senior championship.
McGlynn said: “We’ll start looking at the Championship. This was a game to target to secure Division Two football. Division Two is very competitive and we were blessed that we got a good start to the year.”
