BJ BANDA was thrilled to get off the mark with a cracking goal as Letterkenny Rovers overcame Fanad United on Sunday.

Banda struck a memorable winner as a stunning strike flew to the Fanad net 12 minutes from the end of Sunday’s Donegal News USL League Cup clash at Leckview Park.

“It’s a good way to start the season,” Banda told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“I’m just happy to be back in and happy to get the goal. Fanad are always tough and they gave us a good game.”

Banda picked the ball up deep, shrugged off the advances of a couple of Fanad players before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the top corner of the visitors’ net.

Banda said: “I just decided to go for it. I saw the space and went for it. I managed to get the shot off and luckily it went in.’
