Listen: Modest Gallen deflects praise after five-star show

OISIN GALLEN was keen to deflect the praise after a stunning display for Sean MacCumhaills last night.

Gallen hit 2-9 as MacCumhaills defeated Dungloe 5-14 to 1-18, with all bar one of his points coming from play.

“We moved the ball well through the forwards,” Gallen told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“Everyone was getting on the end of it. Luckily, sometimes I was in the right position on the end of it.”

MacCumhaills have away games to Killybegs and Naomh Conaill to come, but last year’s semi-finalists have given themselves a real chance of making it out of the group.

Gallen said: “It’s great to start off on the right foot and we’re already looking forward to Killybegs.

“There were a lot of ups and downs this season, unfortunately mainly downs, but we always had the right mindset coming into this game and this Championship. This was a good step into it.

“This is our only home game so hopefully this will bounce us on to next week. We know what Killybegs will have and we have to get ourselves sorted for that.”
