Buncrana Golf: Pius McFadden takes Vice-President’s Prize

The competition last weekend was the very popular Dan Kearney Hon. Vice-President Open Stableford and there was a tremendous turnout for Dan’s competition.

Club notes:

With the course in excellent condition and the weather playing its part for a change, there were no excuses for the competitors. With two fantastic scores of 43 pts returned by Pius Mc Fadden and Carlo McLaughlin, it took a break of a tie to decided the overall winner.

The winner was club President Pius Mc Fadden who shot a fantastic 23 pts over the back 9 to secure Dan Kearney’s Hon. Vice-Presidents prize.

The full results of the Dan Kearney Hon. Vice-President Open Stableford are as follows; 1st Pius Mc Fadden (13) 43 pts b.o.t., 2nd Carlo Mc Laughlin (17) 43 pts, Gross Oliver Doherty (4) 67 gross, 3rd Shane Gallivan (12) 42 pts, Best Day Paul McDaid (12) 39 pts, Visitor Neil Gallanagh (15) 37 pts and back 9 Shaun Devlin (12) 21 pts

Competition

The competition this weekend Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September will be an Open Stableford sponsored by Brennan’s Pharmacy. There is a timesheet in operation and by contacting the clubhouse @ 0749362279 a tee time can be reserved.

Winter League

Names are now being taken for the very popular Owen McDaid (Roe) Winter League which will start Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September. The league will run for 6 weekends with Friday’s also included to give every pairing the maximum opportunity to get their respective scores returned. The cost to enter is €30.00 per person and the question is what pairing will take the Winter League title this year.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €850.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Juvenile Lessons

Juvenile Lessons for boys & girls have commenced on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the cost is €5.00.

Meal Deal Competition

The winner of last Thursdays Meal Deal was Michael V. Dessel (12) 39 pts and the Meal Deal Competition will run every Thursday until the end of September and the cost to enter this competition is €18.00 for members and €25.00 for visitors.

The competition entry includes an 18 hole open Stableford and a fantastic two-course meal in the award-winning Drift Inn Bar & Restaurant after your game.

Don’t despair if you can’t use your meal deal voucher on the day of the competitions it can be used on Fridays as well. This is the best meal deal about and with the greens the best in the county it’s an excellent opportunity to experience the course and savour some fantastic food afterwards.

Christmas Hamper

Qualifying for the Annual Christmas Hamper will commence Saturday 14th September and the format is as follows; 7 handicaps up 21 pts to qualify and 6 handicaps down 20 pts to qualify. Cards can be taken in conjunction with other competitions and the Christmas Hamper will be played weekend 7th & 8th December.
