Drunk driver arrested after endangering roadworks staff

A driver was arrested in Manorcunningham last weekend after speeding through roadworks at 140km/hr.

Roads staff were put in potential danger as the car travelled at excessive speeds through the area.

The motorist was charged with drink driving and is due to appear in court.

The case is just one of many incidents where drivers are not obeying the traffic management systems at Manorcunningham. Gardaí say that workers were put in danger on a number of occasions due to impatient motorists.

A garda spokesperson warned the public: “Please take your time and drive with extreme care where roadworks are being conducted. The people out there carrying out these works deserve to carry out their work without the fear of being killed whilst doing so!”
