Do you know a ‘leading light’ who is dedicated to road safety in Donegal? If so, it’s time to nominate them for recognition for their life-saving efforts.
The Road Safety Authority Leading Lights Awards are now open for 2019 nominations.
The awards honour the contribution made by people nationwide in reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
Previous local winners are Joan Doherty from Carndonagh, who won an Education award for her contributions to the Donegal Road Safe Show.
Ronan Bradley also won the ‘Approved Driving Instructor – Car Award’ in 2018.
In 2017, Donegal man Richard Alcorn was presented with the ‘Gertie Shields Supreme Award’ for his work in delivering road safety messages to young adults.
This year is a chance for more Donegal people to be commended for their work in the community.
The Leading Lights awards are split into categories to honour volunteers, teachers, students, businesses, journalists, organisations and community groups and people in many more fields.
Winners will be celebrated and presented with specially commissioned and personalised awards at the Leading Lights Awards Ceremony in Croke Park on the 11 December 2019 and will join the Leading Lights Awards Hall of Fame.
