Watch: ‘Experience stood to us’ – Martin Regan

MARTIN REGAN wasn’t surprised in the slightest by how Glenfin put it up to his Naomh Conaill side in Sunday’s Donegal SFC quarter-final.

Charles McGuinness’s goal helped settle Naomh Conaill after Glenfin went into a three-point lead early on.

“Glenfin gave us all we wanted,” Regan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“It was a very good game. They asked a lot of questions of us driving forward. They have loads of pace.

“We saw that with the under-21s last year. We had a very good under-21 team and they beat us in a semi-final. We knew that we’d get our fill of it again and it proved no different.”

The Glenties men, who have lost the last two SFC finals, are looking forward to their sixth successive semi-final.

And Regan believes their know-how was key.

He said: “Our experience stood to us. We upped it a wee bit. We dominated the midfield and we turned the screw a wee bit. We had the right men on the end of it too.”
