A well-known Chinese jazz and pop duo has been visiting Donegal to film a series of videos for a new Tourism Ireland campaign.
Du Kai and Liu Lian, aka Mr. Miss, have become hugely popular in China since appearing on a reality TV music contest.
And pair have been touring Donegal with a film crew to sing the praised of the county to their fans.
The campaign called ‘Love Ireland’ will feature 20 different experiences and activities in lots of different locations around Ireland including Fanad Lighthouse and Louth Eske Castle.
The videos will go live in December and will be shared with millions of people on Chinese social channels – including Weibo (the popular microblogging site, often described as the Chinese version of Twitter), WeChat (messaging app), TikTok (video sharing app), Red (a platform combining photo-sharing and e-commerce) and Toutiao (news and information platform).
David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Middle East, Asia and Emerging Markets, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Mr. Miss on our new ‘Love Ireland’ campaign – as their fanbase is a good fit with our target audience in China. Their videos will be seen by millions of people across China – helping to raise awareness of Donegal and Ireland, and the wide variety of things to see and do here. They will highlight our rich culture and heritage and help potential Chinese holidaymakers fall in ‘love’ with the island of Ireland – helping to secure a greater share of the 4 million Chinese visitors to Europe each year.”
David Boyce continued: “China is the largest outbound travel market in the world and one that Tourism Ireland is committed to growing over the coming years. In 2018, we welcomed an estimated 100,000 Chinese visitors to the island of Ireland.”
