Letterkenny suffered a major power fault this morning (Weds) leaving more than 2000 people without power.

Homes and businesses were hit with an unexpected power cut in Letterkenny on Wednesday morning.

A major electrical fault struck in at 9.48am, affecting 2,454 ESB customers.

Areas in the outskirts of the Donegal town were also believed to be affected.

The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) responded to the incident to repair the issue, with the interruption solved shortly after 11am.

ESB apologised for the loss of supply following the short blackout.
