Catherine Grier set for World Deaf Futsal Championships

CATHERINE Grier is back on international duty this week again.

Ramelton woman Grier is part of the Irish Deaf Ladies Futsal Team who are travelling to Winterthur, Switzerland on Thursday to take part in the 4th World Deaf Futsal Championships from 9th-18th November.  

They play Russia on 9th, Germany on 10th and Spain on 11th November.  

These group matches will be streamed live on Deaf Sports Ireland Facebook page.  

Catherine is pictured with Johnny Patterson of Johnny’s Ranch, who has generously sponsored Catherine for the 4th World Deaf Futsal Championship 2019

The road to Switzerland started in January 2018 at the qualification tournament in Amsterdam and in December 2018 they travelled to Finland to take part in the European Championship.  

They came 6th overall to qualify for their place in the World Championships.  

This is the first time the Irish ladies have reached the World stage.

Catherine is a past pupil of Mulroy College Milford and Ayr Hill National School Ramelton.
