Buncrana Golf Club: Winter League in full swing as fifth round gets underway

The fifth round of the Owen McDaid (Roe) Winter League took place last weekend and the format was a two ball better ball.

Last years winners Leo Sheehy (16) & Cormac Doherty (18) played some tremendous golf to shoot 47 pts to take the weekly prize by one point form Shaun Devlin (12) & Henry McDaid (17).

Shaun and Henry’s score included a hole in one at the sixth hole by Henry and were very unfortunate not to take the weekly prize.

However, Leo and Cormac are clearly not going to relinquish their title without a fight and will definitely be hard to beat in them match play stages and are clear favourites to retain their Winter League title this year.

The final round of the qualifying stages takes place this weekend and there will be a few teams looking for improved performance to get them into the top qualifiers position with a chance to win the Winter League outright.

Competitions

There will be a new competition starting this week Monday 4th November it will be a 9 hole Stableford “Twenties” it will be €3.00 to entry and will run until 20 competitors play with the prize being win at this stage and a new competition will start straight away.
