LETTERKENNY schoolboy Killian Gribben is in Galway today training with the Irish Under-18 basketball squad.

Gribben has been selected by head coach Paul Kelleher as part of a 22-man squad.

Kelleher’s selection will represent Ireland in the 2019/20 season.

The squad is expected to be cut down to 16 players shortly.

Gribben, a student at St Eunan’s College, plays for Letterkenny Blaze and the towering teenager will hope to make a break in the green vest.

Gribben came through a tough process to get the nod.

Head coach Kelleher said: “This has been a very long process and one we had to take because the players up to now have been exceptional in their application and commitment, which forced us as a staff to draw out the selection process.

“We are thrilled with the standard, athleticism and efficiency the players are at. The staff are now very excited with where we can go with the squad and see what we can achieve.”
