Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training (FET) Service presented QQI certificates at an awards ceremony to over 175 learners in the Millpark Hotel on Tuesday evening last.

Cróna Gallagher, Director of Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training Service welcomed over 200 students, guest and staff to the awards presentation.

Anne McHugh, Chief Executive congratulated the learners on their achievement and outlined the range of courses and services that Donegal ETB provides.

She spoke about Donegal ETB’s Adult Guidance Service which provides guidance and information about both full and part-time courses that are available.

Mr. Geoffrey Browne, Chairperson of Donegal ETB, congratulated each student on their achievement and spoke about how Donegal ETB’s FET Service has developed courses and programmes of learning that respond to the economic, cultural and social profile of the county.

Mr. Browne described it as an innovative service and acknowledged the work of CE Anne McHugh and FET Director Cróna Gallagher for their work in ensuring that Donegal ETB FET’s service has both a strong national and local profile.

Students were from a range of ETB courses and programmes: Youthreach, VTOS, Learning for Living, Recognition of Prior Learning, BTEI and Community Education. A number of students spoke about their experience and learning journey.

Awards were presented in the following subjects: Digital and computer skills from introductory to advanced level, Business Administration, E-business, Customer Service, English and Communications, English language skills, Setting Learning Goals, Event Production, Entrepreneurial Skills, Mathematics, On-line Form Filling, Media Studies and Health Service Skills.

The work and commitment of staff and tutors who facilitated and supported the teaching and learning process was also praised.

Some of the courses presented this evening were co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.
