Listen: Kieran Tobin on ‘fantastic’ Youth Cup win for Rovers

CAPTAIN Kieran Tobin hailed a superb FAI Youth Cup win for Letterkenny Rovers this afternoon.

Rovers overcame DDSL side Greystones at Leckview Park 4-1 to move into the last 16 of the competition.

Kealan Dunleavy, Jack Dwyer, Nathan Plumb and Kelan Collier netted for Rovers, who played much of the second half with 10 men following Dwyer’s dismissal.

“It was a fantastic win,” Tobin told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We’re delighted to get into another round. It’s great for the club and great for the players. It was a massive result to get over the line today.”

Greystones began the brighter side and had a couple of big chances, but the tide turned when Dunleavy nodded home the opener. When Rovers struck twice in the space of two minutes before half-time, Greystones were shellshocked.

Tobin said: “We really rallied the storm. Kealan got the header and that set us on our way. The second and third really set us up for the second half.

“Getting the third one really killed them a bit and gave them a big mountain to climb in the second half.”
